FAQ

How long does it take to complete a typical DIY job?

The average DIY project takes two to four hours. The project's complexity and difficulty will impact the length.

Do you have any suggestions from a handyman on how to improve your home?

Absolutely! Handyman training is in all areas of home repairs and maintenance. He or she will know what needs to be done and what won't. Do not hesitate to seek advice whenever you are in need.

What are the most frequent handyman repairs that you need to make?

Handymen are often called upon to repair roofs and windows, doors, gutters or siding. They also can install hot water heaters, air conditioning units, electrical systems, sheds, decks, fences, sheds and other items. Handymen can help with home improvement and building projects that are not feasible for DIY homeowners.

Which is simpler: Contracting or being a handyman.

Handyman work requires less resources than contracting because you only need your own tools. It is important that you are able to manage your workload and work schedule. Contractors often rely heavily on subcontractors.

What happens when a handyman causes injury and I am not satisfied with his work.

You must immediately notify the manager if anything goes wrong during the project. It is best to note down what happened and attach photos. Then contact your insurance company and file a claim.

How often should I use a handyman for my job?

It depends on the nature of your project. One handyman might be enough to do a basic job like changing a bulb or fixing a leak. However, if there is a lot of remodeling involved, you could probably use several handymen over the course of the project.

Is it possible to have my faucets fixed by a handyman?

Although a handyman may be able to handle minor repairs, he will not have the necessary training to tackle major projects such as wiring a house or installing custom cabinets. A handyman can do minor home improvements, but there are no limitations to his abilities.

How to Replace a Broken Window?

Repairing broken windows is one the most common home improvement jobs. The job involves repairing the damage done to the glass in your home. Repair work in this instance should take no more than 30 minutes. But if you do not know how to replace a broken pane of glass, then you risk causing further damage to the house. This article offers some useful tips to replace a broken window.

First step: Remove the old glass from its frame

To remove the old windowpane, you will first need to take out the screws that held it in place. Next, remove the lock at the top of the lower section of your window frame. Next, move the window up slightly to remove it from the sill plate (the bar that runs below the floor). Finally, use a pry tool to carefully loosen the remaining screws until they pop out of their holes. Clean the panes thoroughly after they are taken out.

Second step: Clean the new glass

To remove dirt and grime from the glass' surface, use a paper towel or dry cloth. To remove any dirt or other debris from the glass' surface, spray it with water and rub alcohol.

Third Step: Reinstall new glass

Then, attach the window panes back into the frames. Begin by pressing down on the outermost pane's lower edge with a screwdriver. Gently push back the pane into place in the opening. Next, move on to the next pane and press it against the frame before attaching it. Continue inserting the panes until the entire window is assembled. You can seal the spaces where the panes meet using a silicone caulk pistol.

Fourth Step: Repair the affected area

When installing the new glass, inspect the area around the hole to determine whether any additional repairs are needed. In the event that the hole is located near the corner of your window, place two small pieces on either side of it. These wooden blocks will strengthen the window while acting as spacers for the glass during expansion and contraction of the weatherproofing.

Fifth step: Seal the repaired area

After the glass is replaced, apply silicone caulking to all edges of your window frame. This will seal the glass to the wallboard. You can purchase silicone caulking at hardware stores or online. Choose a color that matches your walls.

Finally, let the caulking cure overnight. Do not disturb the caulking until it has hardened completely. You may crack the caulking by not waiting long enough.
