FAQ

How often do I need to hire a handyman

It depends on the nature of your project. If you are looking for a quick fix, like installing a lightbulb, you may only need one handyman per week. For large-scale remodeling projects, you might need to hire several handymen.

Do I need to train a handyman to do my work?

No. Handymen already possess the knowledge and skills to complete any project. All you need to do is give them the materials to complete the job.

Do I need to pay a handyman per hour or per project?

It really comes down to personal preference. Some prefer to pay per hour so they can see the actual cost of their handyman. Some prefer to pay each project individually, especially if they are working on multiple jobs simultaneously. Both are fine.

Which is more difficult: being a contractor or a handyman.

Because you only need tools and yourself, being a handyman is more time-consuming than contracting. It is important that you are able to manage your workload and work schedule. Contractors often rely heavily on subcontractors.

Who will do my handyman project?

You won't find a cheaper price for a local handyman if you're looking to have a job done quickly, such as fixing a leaky faucet or replacing a lightbulb. You might also consider hiring a handyman to do multiple jobs such as installing floor tiles or repairing your roof.

Handyman Services can provide ongoing support for those in need, including maintenance.

How do I replace a damaged window?

Replacing broken windows is one of the most common home improvement tasks. The task consists of repairing damage caused to the glass inside your house. Repair work in this instance should take no more than 30 minutes. The problem is that you might end up with further damage to your home if the glass pane breaks. This article offers some useful tips to replace a broken window.

First step: Remove the old glass from its frame

To take out the old glass, first remove the screws that hold it in place. Next, take out the lock at top center of the window frame's bottom section. Next, lift the window slightly up so that it is no longer attached the sill plate (the steel bar at the floor). The last step is to gently loosen all remaining screws with a tool. Once the panes are removed, clean them thoroughly.

Step 2: Clean the new glasses

You can wipe any dirt off the glass surface with a towel or a dry cloth. A spray bottle filled with water, rubbing alcohol and water can be used to clean debris stuck beneath the glass.

Third Step: Reinstall the replacement glass

Attach the window frames to the panes. Use a screwdriver to push the outermost edge of your pane down. Gently push the pane back into the opening in the frame. Then move to the next pane, pushing it firmly against the previous pane before reattaching it. Continue to insert the panes until you have assembled the whole window. To seal the area where the panes meet, use a silicone caulk gun.

Fourth Step: Repair the area damaged

If you are installing new glass, be sure to inspect the area where the break occurred. This will help determine if further repairs are necessary. Install two pieces of small wood on each side of any hole if the break was near the corner. These wooden blocks will be strong and can also act as spacers, keeping the glass in its place during expansion and contract of the weatherproofing.

Fifth step: Seal the repaired area

After the glass is replaced, apply silicone caulking to all edges of your window frame. This will create a good seal between the glass and the surrounding wallboard. Silicone caulking is available at hardware stores as well as online. You should choose a color to match the wall paint.

Allow the caulking time to dry overnight. Once the caulking is fully set, don't disturb it. You can cause cracking in the caulking if it isn't left enough time.
