Do professional handyman services really make sense?

This depends entirely on the type of project you want to be performed. A professional handyman service is recommended for complex projects such as office renovations.

It depends on the size and complexity of the project. Larger projects usually take more time to complete. A handyman can usually finish a project in one week, regardless of its size.

Which is easier: contracting or being a handyman?

Handyman work requires less resources than contracting because you only need your own tools. You will need to be able manage your work and time, as contractors rely on subcontractors for most of their work.

Are handymen insured?

Yes! Yes. Many insurance companies cover liability claims that exceed $1 million for bodily injuries and property damage. Your insurance company will typically compensate you for damages if there is a problem during the project.

How to Replace a Broken Window?

Replacing broken windows is one of the most common home improvement tasks. The job involves repairing the damage done to the glass in your home. Repair work in this instance should take no more than 30 minutes. If you don't know how to replace broken glass, you could cause more damage to your home. This article will give you some helpful tips for replacing broken windows.

Step one: Get rid of the old glass from the frame

First, remove all screws that hold the glass in place. Next, remove the lock at the top of the lower section of your window frame. Next, lift the window upwards so it isn’t attached to sill plates (the metal bars below the floor). Use a plier to loosen any remaining screws. Once the panes are removed, clean them thoroughly.

Second step: Clean your new glass

Use a dry paper towel or cloth to remove any dirt from the glass. To remove any dirt or other debris from the glass' surface, spray it with water and rub alcohol.

Third Step: Reinstall new glass

Then, attach the window panes back into the frames. With the tip of a screwdriver, push down on the bottom edge of the outermost window pane. Gently push the pane back into the opening in the frame. Next, insert the next pane by pressing it against the first pane. Continue inserting the panes till the window is complete. Seal the area where the panes meet with silicone caulk gun.

Fourth step: Repair the damaged area

To determine if additional repairs are necessary, inspect the area surrounding the hole before installing the glass. In the event that the hole is located near the corner of your window, place two small pieces on either side of it. These wooden blocks will be strong and can also act as spacers, keeping the glass in its place during expansion and contract of the weatherproofing.

Fourth step: Sealing the area

After the glass has been replaced, apply a bead of silicone caulking to the perimeter edges of the window frame. This will seal the glass to the wallboard. You can buy silicone caulking online or at hardware shops. Be sure to choose a color that matches the existing paint on the walls.

Let the caulking dry overnight. After the caulking has dried completely, do not disturb it. If you don't wait long enough, you could cause the caulking to crack when you remove it.
